New York, New York!
Thanks to our friends at Ghostfish Brewing Company, a world first ever trans-Atlantic gluten free collaboration has come to life with the first kegs tapped at Old Mates Pub in NYC!
Aussie expats in New York have been getting a taste of home at Old Mates Pub since March this year, with Aussie Beers, Bunnings style snags in bread and AFL and NRL on the screens. And now ALL New Yorkers can enjoy an Aussie style Pacific Ale, even if they are avoiding gluten. The collaboration beer is available in cans and on tap.

What makes this collaboration special?
“This collaboration marks the first global collaboration between two dedicated gluten-free breweries,” says Brian Theil, Co-Founder/Managing Member at Ghostfish Brewing Company. “This collaboration project was long overdue. We’ve been friends with the folks at TWØBAYS for quite some time. I vividly recall the day Richard walked into Ghostfish back in 2017 and announced he intended to open a dedicated gluten-free brewery in Australia. We’ve watched TWØBAYS Brewing’s growth over the past 8 years with great interest and celebrated their back-to-back World Beer Cup Gold Medals the past two years. It was a no-brainer when Richard reached out to discuss an opportunity to create a beer together”.
“I loved Ghostfish beers from the moment I walked into their Taproom in 2017, so when we had an opportunity to get an Aussie beer on tap at a new Australian-owned bar in New York called Old Mates, I gave Brian a call and said how about doing something together. Pacific Ale is a classic Aussie beer style, and we are sure it will be loved by beer lovers in the US as much as it is down under,” said TWØBAYS Brewing’s CEO and Founder Richard Jeffares.
What is the beer?
The beer is a fresh take on TWØBAYS' recent World Beer Cup gold medal winner, Pacific Ale.
Pacific Ale is a uniquely Australian beer style, an evolution of the American Summer Ale featuring Australian Galaxy hops. Low bitterness, easy drinking, and a fruity hop-forward profile, it’s exactly the kind of beer you want in your hand while watching the ocean. For this collaboration, we wanted to bring hops from both sides of the Pacific, so we added Citra Cryo hops to bring some Pacific Northwest flair to a classic Australian beer style.
The thoughtful can design has incorporated Ghostfish and TWØBAYS elements and visual cues to its US meets AU origins – two great brewing nations separated by one ocean.

Where is it available?
Pacific Ale is currently available on draft and in 4-pack 12oz cans inside Ghostfish Brewing’s Seattle-based taproom and Old Mates Pub in New York, NY. Future plans may include a broader distribution footprint of Pacific Ale.
