What is gluten free beer?
Gluten free beer is beer that is brewed without the use of gluten-containing grains such as barley, wheat, or rye. It is made with alternative grains like sorghum, millet, rice, buckwheat or corn to create a beer that is safe for individuals with gluten sensitivities or coeliac disease.
How is gluten removed from gluten free beer?
TWØBAYS gluten free beers are brewed using naturally gluten free grains and ingredients, so there is no need to eliminate or reduce gluten during the brewing process. Note, beers marked "gluten reduced" are not considered to be gluten free by Australian food standards.
Are all gluten free beers suitable for individuals with coeliac disease?
Not all “gluten free” beers are suitable for individuals with coeliac disease, but TWØBAYS beers are. TWØBAYS beers are all brewed and packed in their dedicated gluten free brewery. There are some imported beers labelled gluten free that do not meet the Australian standard so it is always best to check the label. Gluten reduced does not mean gluten free.
Are gluten free beers also suitable for vegans?
TWØBAYS gluten free beers are suitable for vegans as they are made without animal-derived ingredients. However, gluten free doesn’t mean vegan, so it's always recommended to check other gluten free beer ingredients or contact the brewery directly to confirm its vegan status.
Do gluten free beers taste different from regular beers?
At TWØBAYS we use a range of alternative grains in our beers to brew a wide variety of gluten free beer styles, as we know beer lovers enjoy a choice. There is a beer style for every occasion. Using a selection of different grains, malted in similar styles to barley, we have a lot more options to dial up or down different flavours in our beers which barley brewers don’t have the luxury of. This often results in a “cleaner” tasting beer. At TWØBAYS, we celebrate gluten free grains and the opportunities to create a new world of flavour.
Where can I find gluten free beers?
Gluten free beers can be found at specialty stores, bottle shops, and mainstream retailers, such as Dan Murphy’s, First Choice, Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, BWS, Thirsty Camel and IGA Liquor stores. Additionally, some breweries offer their gluten free beers for purchase online through their websites or through online retailers.
Can I brew gluten free beer at home?

Are gluten free beers more expensive than regular beers?
Gluten free beers can be slightly more expensive than regular beers due to the cost of gluten free ingredients, particularly malts which are not produced on the same scale as barley malts. However, prices can vary depending on the brand and location.
Can gluten free beer be enjoyed by individuals without gluten sensitivities?

Some prefer the lighter feel and some comment that they don’t get as bloated after drinking gluten free beer.
