2025 Year in review

2025 Year in review

What a year 2025 was! A year of world firsts, expansion and brewing more gluten free beer than ever before. Here’s some of our highlights…

Another World Beer Cup Gold:

We were blown away in 2024 to find out TWØBAYS Session Ale had been judged to be the best gluten free beer in the World at the World Beer Cup. The win made TWØBAYS the first Australian brewery to win gold at the competition since Lion in 2018. Our brewers proved that win was no fluke, winning Gold at the competition for a second year in a row in 2025 – a feat no other Australian brewery has ever achieved. It was the first batch of our new core range addition, Pacific Ale, which is has quickly become a firm favourite with gluten free beer lovers around the country.

Better than barley beers:

The World Beer Cup Gold was not the only award our brewers picked up this year. At the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards, TWØBAYS won 10 more medals – and the only gluten free beers to win any golds this year. But surpassing that, Pulp Fusion Passionfruit Sour became the first 100% gluten free beer to win a Gold outside of the gluten free beer category. The Fruit Beer category attracted 68 entries. Only eight were awarded Gold medals, including Pulp Fusion – the judges ranked our gluten free beer better quality than 60 barley beers and shortlisted it for a category Trophy. The quality gap between barley beer and gluten free has gone!

World first transatlantic collaboration:

Old Mates Pub in NYC, backed by a host of Australian celebrities, were looking for the best Australian beers to put on their taps, and a chance discussion lead to a world first collaboration, the TWØBAYS partnering with Ghostfish Brewing Co. from Seattle USA to serve a co-branded version of Pacific Ale at the iconic Aussie bar. Now Australians in New York can get in on the bar shout!

1,000 brews and counting:

In April 2018, the original Two Bays Brewing Co. pilot system was being unloaded from a truck to be installed in our very empty and yet to be opened brewery. The mission to raise the bar for gluten free beers and make it as widely available as possible so no one has to miss out on the bar shout had begun! Almost exactly 7 years to the day later, our brewers were milling the grains for brew number 1,000, a huge milestone for the team and a proud moment for Richard.

New tanks, new brewer, more capacity:

Demand for gluten free beer has grown at a phenomenal pace in Australia, and our brewers were stretched to capacity. The arrival of an extra brewer, Liam (formerly Kaiju), and larger fermentation tanks, has allowed the team to increase output. In November this year, the team brewed and packed 50% more beer than in any other single month in our short 7 year history, and they’ve not slowed down coming into summer.

A growing team:

Our brewers were not the only ones feeling the stretch - All this extra beer isn’t going to drink itself and our sales team needed to grow. We were excited to add a Sales Manager (Ryan, ex Lion) and new Sales Rep (Daniel, ex Coopers) to the team, to support the continued growth and distribution of gluten free beer right around the country.

1,000 new share holders:

We don’t see our team as just the people working in the brewery – it extends to all our customers who are out there advocating for our beers every day, demanding their right to gluten free beer. In October we opened up our doors for customers to become shareholders and own a piece of the brewery, and the response was overwhelming. 2.5 Million shares were snapped up in just one week, making it one of the most successful brewery crowd sourced funding campaigns in recent history. The raise has shown retailers and venues just how in demand the category is and more and more are making sure they have a beer for everyone.

Choice Brews:

Sharing a beer with our neighbours - It’s what Aussies and New Zealanders do. So we were excited to send our first shipment of beers to New Zealand, 10 different gluten free beer styles, to ensure our Kiwi neighbours have a choice of gluten free beers as well. And they were thirsty! Our stocks were drunk dry in just a couple of weeks and we scrambled to get extra beers on the next available ship.

What next?:

With a year of such major milestones, you might ask “what is next for TWØBAYS?”. Watch out 2026, there’s more big things coming!
