Free the Taps has been a staple on the Australian beer calendar for 5 years, and now it is time for us to share a beer with our neighbours.
Coeliac Disease affects 1 in 70 New Zealanders, yet only 1 in 5 are diagnosed. Free The Taps aims to raise awareness of gluten free beer options and demand in pubs and venues. We are sending a clear message – no one needs to miss out on the bar shout.
We are helping pubs all around New Zealand welcome in new and forgotten customers for a beer by freeing their taps from gluten. With 3 venues taking part in our first event, freeing a total of 9 taps usually reserved for barley beers, TWØBAYS are inviting all beer lovers to come and experience just how good beer can be without gluten at Free the Taps events, and to shout their gluten free mates a beer.
And don’t think that just because it’s gluten free, it’s not for EVERYONE who enjoys a cold refreshing beer. The events are being held at some of the nation’s most iconic craft beer venues, a sign from the industry that these beers are well worth a try for even the most dedicated craft beer drinkers. From World Cup Gold medal winners to one off keg only brews, there's a beer for everyone's tastes.
We’ve partnered with these venues because we don’t think it’s fair for people to miss out on good beer. For us, it’s about those who avoid gluten being able to join in supporting their local and exploring different styles and tasting amazing flavours, with some great food.
